Cask of Amontillado Barrel Tiki Mug, Series 1 open edition - matte brown
The Cask of Amontillado Barrel Mug is our first tiki mug is inspired by the work of Edgar Allen Poe. The front of the mug replicates the infamous wine container that lured Fortunato to his demise, while the obverse reveals the results of hasty masonry-work.
The sculpt itself is a beaut! In addition to our Amontillado barrel logo and the remains of the unfortunate Fortunato the sculpt includes some nice details.
The Italian inscription, "BEVO ALLA TUA VITA LUNGA," means "I drink to your long life". A blessing or a curse, given the story. Amontillado, like many rums, is aged using the solera method, and this barrel comes from the ill-omened batch 17. The bricks on the back are even "crusted" with Nitre (the symbol for it, anyway).
Measures about 7” high, in a matte brown glaze. The matte finish enhances the stunning woodgrain. Holds approximately 18 oz. Comes with a special Hints and History cocktail recipe card.
(Because it is hand-wiped, there will be slight variation, making each mug unique!)
Microwave, oven, and dishwasher safe. Possibly volcano-safe too.
